Transferring a domain name
Transferring an existing domain name to OxheyNet
In order to host a website on our servers its domain name(s) must be resident, or 'parked', on our servers. If you have previously registered your domain name elsewhere, you will need to ask your current ISP to transfer the domain name from their server to OxheyNet's server. This transfer will not affect your ownership of the domain name.

In order to carry out the transfer, you will need to tell your current ISP where to transfer the domain name. They will ask you for (a) our IPS tag and (b) the name and IP address our name servers. We will supply you with this information when you register with us.

After you have transferred the domain name to us, the procedure for renewing the registration of that domain varies depending on whether it is a UK domain or a US domain:

  • UK domain names: any name ending with .co.uk, .org.uk, .plc.uk or .ltd.uk
At the time of you transfer a UK domain to us, the Nominet TAG will also be transfered to us. This means that the domain name fees will be payable through us.
  • US domain names: any name ending with .com, .org, .net, .info, .biz, .name or .tv
    W
ith US domains, the registration of the domain name remains with the original registrar. This means you will be billed directly for your NIC fees from your Registrars, and we will bill you for hosting, etc.
